Show Off Your Shoes at Ross Dress for Less and Win (and a giveaway for you!)

Everyone loves showing off their new purchases, especially when you got them at a discount!  That's the idea behind Ross Dress for Less' new contest:  Show Off Your Shoes selfie contest.  Who doesn't love taking selfies?  And who doesn't love showing off their new spring shoes?  Only this time, you could actually win some money for it!  Joining couldn't be easier:

  • Snap and upload your best Ross shoe selfie, then share with your friends and encourage them to vote for you.
  • At the end of the promotion, the top three shoe selfies with the most votes will receive the grand prize, second prize and third prize of a $500, $300 and $100 Ross Dress for Less gift card!
  • Additionally, each week one winner will be selected at random to win a $50 Ross gift card.

Things get even easier when you shop at Ross, because they have so many cute shoes in all styles and sizes, so you're sure to find a pair worth showing off!  Ross sent me to one of their stores yesterday to find my the perfect pair of spring shoes, and as usual, the store did not disappoint.  Their shoe racks are full of the latest spring styles at great prices.  In fact, on this particular trip, I ran across a brand-name pair of shoes that I already own (and love and wear to death because they are so comfy) -- selling for half the price I paid!

Since we are going to Disneyland next week, I looked long and hard at these comfy sneakers ($14.99):

Hmmm... they're comfy, but not as girly as I wanted for this trip.  These Mary Jane sneakers became another candidate ($16.99)....

... and so did these ($24.99).  Navy is the new black, and these were quite an upscale name brand, so I was really tempted to get them.

In the end, the lure of spring and all things green was too much, and I went for these flip flops -- but they're not just any flip flops!  They have the airiest soles (can you guess the brand?), with actual arch support, leather instep, and the daintiest flower detail on the strap.  I'll actually be able to walk around Disneyland in these! Best of all, they were just $13.99!  They were the perfect pair of shoes to get at Ross this spring, and the perfect candidate for Ross's Show Off Your Shoes promotion.  I uploaded the photo on to Facebook, and I'm hoping it will get enough likes to qualify me for a prize!

Spring Shoe Event at Ross Dress for Less (and a giveaway for you!)

Hurrah, spring is here! Everyone is welcoming the warmer weather and the chance to break out those tank tops, linen skirts and preppy twinsets. Of course, no outfit is complete without shoes, so Ross Dress for Less in San Francisco is holding their annual Shoe Event this week! It began on March 23 and runs through April 30, with every style of shoe you can think of for spring and beyond.

To celebrate their Spring Shoe event, Ross kindly sent me a $25 gift card so I could check out their new spring styles and tell everyone about it (they've also given me a second gift card to give away, read all about it below!). $25 goes a long, long way at Ross, and I eagerly made a visit to Ross to see just how far that $25 could go.

As I approached the shoe section, I was assaulted with style upon style:

Strappy sandals! Wedges! Espadrilles! Peep toes! Spring colors... pink, white, yellow, tan .... and the accents... flowers, glitter, gems... to cute to be true! The choices were great, even for size 9, 10, and 11 (if you're a Bay Area Bigfoot like me, note that the San Francisco Market Street Ross has THE biggest selection of large-size women's footwear!). None of the shoes I saw, by the way, cost more than $25, so I was spoiled for choice.

Espadrilles are all the rage now, so I tried on quite a few pairs.

I absolutely loved the natural weave pattern on this pink pair. It was so comfy and cute!

I was sorely, soooooorely tempted by these peep-toe espadrilles. They are so feminine and dainty, and they'd look equally great with a skirt or capris. I really wanted a navy pair since I plan to wear lots of white and navy in the coming months... unfortunately these were a tad uncomfortable for my feet. They are canvas, so I think they probably would stretch, but I'm always nervous about shoes that don't feel good from the get-go. Still, I was all set to buy them.... and then I saw these beauties:

This is a match made in heaven! Ultra comfy, ultra-stylish, ultra-casual, just what I was looking for. I got them for the unheard-of price of $12.99! They were so inexpensive, I had enough left over to indulge in these pretty, strappy sandals:

These will go so well with the dress I bought for our school mother-daughter Easter brunch! I'm so excited to wear them! These were only $14.99, so I paid less for those 2 pairs of shoes than I would have paid for just one of them at a department store. In fact, I may run back to Ross and get those peep-toe espadrilles.....

New FEED 12 TOMS shoe debuts April 1

Attention, TOMS lovers! TOMS and FEED are pairing up (pun intended) and coming out with a special FEED 12 TOMS shoe, made of burlap and printed with the FEED logo. The purchase of any pair of TOMS results in a donation of a pair of new shoes to a child in need, but when you purchases these special shoes, 12 school meals will also be donated in addition to the shoes! My daughter LOVES her TOMS shoes, and she has convinced me to buy a pair of my own, but I haven't yet decided which color or design. I had my heart set on a navy or red pair (the perfect summer espadrilles!) but now this FEED 12 TOMS shoe is tempting me. Who says I have to limit myself to just 1 pair.....

TOMS founder Blake Mycoskie and FEED founder Lauren Bush have joined together to create special limited edition TOMS shoes just in time for Mother’s Day. The FEED 12 TOMS Classics will be available for women ($58) and toddlers ($34), featuring the well-known FEED stamp on burlap material. Through the simple purchase of these shoes, 12 school meals AND one pair of new shoes will be given to a child in need.

TOMS + FEED Limited Edition Shoes will be sold exclusively on TOMS.com.

About TOMS:
In 2006, American traveler Blake Mycoskie befriended children in a village in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created TOMS, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. One for One. Just last year, TOMS evolved from a shoe company to the One for One company, now addressing an entirely new need in addition to shoes through eyewear, helping give sight to people in need.

About FEED:
After witnessing the effects of hunger firsthand when traveling as a WFP Honorary Spokesperson, Lauren Bush Lauren co-founded FEED Projects in 2007 with the mission of creating good products that help FEED the world. Every product sold has a measurable donation attached to it and, thus far, FEED has been able to provide over 60 million meals globally through the UN World Food Programme. Additionally, FEED has supported nutrition programs around the world and in the US through organizations such as UNICEF and DonorsChoose.org.

Disclosure: I did not receive a sample or monetary compensation for this post. Press release was provided by TOMS and is indicated in italic text. The views and opinions expressed here are my own.

Shoe bag giveaway

My latest giveaway is a pair of shoe bags from Real Simple. They are great for organizing and protecting your shoes, but they are so chic, you may not want to use them as shoe bags:

You could slip in a bottle of wine and take it as a hostess present for one of the million holiday parties you're going to be attending, you party animal, you.

You could use it to keep items of a, uh, personal nature that you don't want your toddler fishing out of your voluminous tote bag and holding up for all the world to see ("Uh, honey, let's put mommy's birth control pills and tampon back into mommy's bag....")

You could use it to pack a sandwich lunch when you're feeling virtuous/eco-chic/thrifty/all of the above.

You could use it to store purses, camera lenses, binoculars, and anything else you don't want gathering dust.

See? The possibilities are simple, but endless. Here's how to win:

* Leave a comment on this post -- in your comment, share your favorite organizing tip. Don't forget to include your email address so I can contact you.

* For an extra entry, blog about this giveaway on your own blog and include a link to this post. Leave an extra comment with your name, email address and a link to your blog.

I'll draw a winner at random on December 22, 2008. For the full giveaway rules, click here.

A Frightfully exciting sweepstakes!

I went to Silicon Valley Moms blog to check up on my latest post, and lo and behold, I saw this little contest just below it. Who doesn't want to win a $10,000 fashion makeover, especially when no purchase is necessary -- and you don't have to sign up for their e-newsletter or special offer emails or whatever?

Discounts from The Children's Place

The Children's Place is one of my shopping mall staples; I can't pass by one of their stores without dropping in for a peek. They have some great styles, and you can't beat their prices, especially when they go on sale (which is all the time). Recently they sent me a couple of those "discount for you and a friend" coupons in the mail. It's good for 15% off your total purchases until November 2. I won't be using them, so in the spirit of holiday giving, I'm sharing them with everyone:

T2866MCGA8
T28V9ATXA8
T29UYWG7A8

I don't know whether these are one-time use coupon codes or not, so it's first come first served.

Where the Bongga Things Are

Hi, I'm Bonggamom and this is my new blog, Bonggamom Findings.

I've been toying with the idea of starting this site for quite a while now. From time to time, I've blogged about products I like, books I've read, blogs I've visited and coupons I've used on my personal blog, Finding Bonggamom. I've decided to voice those sorts of opinions on a separate site -- Bonggamom Findings -- so I can devote Finding Bonggamom to stories and reflections on my life. I'm sure there will always be some overlap between the two blogs, but this is where you'll find my take on stuff I've deemed to be Bongga -- or not so Bongga.

So without further ado: Welcome, good to see you, hope you come back, all that stuff -- and let the opinions begin!
