Energizer supports breast cancer research all year, every year

Energizer's commitment to Breast Cancer Awareness is strong, consistent and long-lasting:  just like their batteries!  They have donated over $3 million since 2005, and have partnered with the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation since 2007.  This year they donated $225,000.  I will be forever grateful to Energizer for sponsoring me in the 2010 3-Day for the Cure in San Francisco and giving me the experience of a lifetime! In fact, my experiences during that event and the people I met there are what inspired me to start blogging for Breast Cancer Awareness in October.  So thank you, Energizer, for helping me see the world through rose-colored glasses!

Help someone you know enter the Energizer Keep Going Hall of Fame (and a giveaway)

When I participated in the Susan G. Komen 3 Day for the Cure event last October as the Energizer Keep Going Blogger, I met many wonderful people who exemplified the Energizer Bunny's Keep Going® spirit. From crew members who woke up at 4AM every day to walkers who raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to breast cancer survivors who fought a horrible disease, these people are ordinary people like you and me who just don't know what it means to give up, and they are an inspiration to us all.

I'm sure you know a few people like that yourself -- and now is your chance to let everyone else recognize and applaud their Keep Going® spirit. Energizer is teaming up with Baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr. to find the next Inductee into the Energizer Keep Going® Hall of Fame. Anyone can nominate themselves or someone they know at

www.energizer.com/halloffame

Ten finalists will be selected and awarded a $1,000 donation to a charity of their choice, as well as a Flip camcorder to help in their campaign efforts to become the 2011 Energizer Keep Going® Hall of Fame Inductee. The Inductee is then chosen by an online public vote, receiving a $10,000 cash prize and a $5,000 donation to his or her favorite charity. Plus, he or she will be honored at a special awards ceremony hosted by Energizer Keep Going® Hall of Fame Honorary Inductee, Cal Ripken, Jr.

Here's more information about the program:
Energizer is currently seeking people with unwavering determination, an energetic spirit and the drive to make a difference to join Baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr. and others recognized for their unstoppable energy in the Energizer Keep Going® Hall of Fame.

We all know someone who's persevered and made a positive impact. It could be a friend who's overcome the odds and kept going when the chips were down. It could be a relative who stuck to their dreams when no one else thought they had a chance. Or just someone whose simple act created a positive change in his community. Just like the Energizer Bunny®, they never give up. That person could be your sister, your best friend, your son, daughter, or even you!

From now through Feb. 4, 2011, people are invited to enter their own personal stories or nominate someone they know online at www.energizer.com/halloffame. Just like America’s non-stop icon, the Energizer Bunny®, nominees should embody the Keep Going® spirit by making a positive impact on the world through extraordinary determination and courage. Cal Ripken, Jr., who became the first member of the Energizer Keep Going® Hall of Fame six years ago, is once again helping lead the search for the next Inductee.

It’s all a part of Energizer’s Now That's Positivenergy™ campaign to help everyday citizens channel their power to make a positive impact, whether it be in their local community or around the world -- and you could be a part of it!

Energizer Keep Going Goodies

I feel really lucky to have been chosen as Energizer's Keep Going Blogger® for San Francisco. As if sponsoring my participation fee in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure® weren't enough, Energizer also sent me a gigantic gift basket full of Energizer® goodies!

I just had to take a photo of the explosion of pink that has invaded our guest room. First and foremost is my new BFF, a pink plush Energizer Bunny®, who'll be keeping me company on my 3-day adventure this October. I'll be taking quite a lot of pink stuff with me -- they gave me a pink bracelet, pink water bottle, pink toiletry case, pink "Energizer Keep Going Blogger®" bandanna and three pink "Energizer Keep Going Blogger®" tshirts.

To record my thoughts and memories during the journey, I've got a new journal and Flip video camera, and to make sure I can blog and tweet throughout the event, I've got a ton of Energizer batteries and some great Energizer chargers. The laptop charger came in really handy during the first day of school -- I was manning our PTA's eScrip table, and had my laptop available for parents who wanted to sign up on the spot. My laptop battery only lasts about 90 minutes, and with no power outlet in sight, that extra Energizer laptop battery was a lifesaver. And I love my new Energizer charger kit because it can charge practically any electronic device -- my iPod, my cellphone, Alfie's cellphone, The Pea's iPod, The Pea's MP3 player, the boys' videogames, you name it. It even comes with a car charger adapter so we can take it with us on road trips.

If only Energizer could come up with a battery that could hook up to humans to make sure I can finish that 60-mile walk. Until then, I'll just have to rely on good shoes, proper nutrition, and regular training. On second thought, nix that human battery idea, I'm happy with the rest of the stuff! Thanks, Energizer!

Energizer is sponsoring my participation fee and fundraising requirement for this event, but I would love to be able to raise more for breast cancer. Please help me reach my goal of $1000! Any amount helps and is greatly appreciated. You can click on the widget below to donate to the Susan G. Komen foundation.

I'm an Energizer Keep Going Blogger!

Help me reach my goal for the Susan G. Komen San Francisco Bay Area 3-Day for the Cure!

Who walks 20 miles one day, goes to bed, then wakes up and does the very same thing the next day -- and the day after? A masochist? A lunatic? How about one who's fighting cancer? Or one who wants to honor a loved one who fought cancer? Or one who's raising money for the cure?

Starting October 3, add me to that list of crazy, motivated people. I've been selected by Energizer® as San Francisco's Keep Going® Blogger for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure® 3 day, 60-mile walk. The Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure® is an event where participants walk 60 miles over the course of 3 days to raise funds to end breast cancer forever. I will be walking in the San Francisco Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure which will take place on October 1 - October 3, 2010, in honor of my aunt, who beat breast cancer and is alive and kicking today, and in memory of my grandmother, who beat breast cancer when I was a child and passed away a decade ago.

I'll be blogging about my experiences, both during training and during the event itself -- so stay tuned for more posts both here and on my personal blog, Finding Bonggamom. Energizer® is sponsoring my participation fee in the event, but the more money raised in the fight against cancer, the better -- so I'm hoping you can donate any amount to the cause by clicking on the widget below. If you can't, no worries, just wish me luck!
