Giveaway: SeaPak celebrates National Seafood Month in a Shrimptacular Way

Did you know October is National Seafood Month?  Over here on the West Coast, we love our seafood, and what better way to celebrate than by joining SeaPak's month-long Shrimptacular event!  Each day in October, there's something new and exciting on the Shrimptacular website, from recipes to guest posts from popular bloggers to photo contests (you could win $1,000!) to money-saving coupons to a chance to win SeaPak products for an entire year.

Our entire family loves seafood, and over the years we've built a family tradition around driving to the coast to enjoy a seafood lunch or dinner. We have been making the 45-minute drive ever since the kids were babies, and no-one ever complains about the distance because we know there's a seafood feast waiting for us at the end.

There are dozens of places around Half Moon Bay that serve the freshest seafood ever, but somehow we always end up at a little place called Barbara's Fish Trap.  They're just a little take-out stand in an out-of-the-way location in Princeton, CA, but we swear they serve the best Fish and Chips outside of the UK (and maybe inside as well!).  After we have our fill of flaky, tender cod, we walk off some of the calories by taking a stroll along Princeton Harbor to check out the fishing boats selling their days' catch, straight from their boats.  Sometimes we make the trip a Family Night Out and head out in the evening -- the trip becomes even more special because we can enjoy the sunset off the Pacific Ocean, a sight that never fails to stop us in our tracks.

We would do Family Night Out on the coast every week if we could, but with our busy schedules, it's not always possible -- so once in a while, we take the ocean home with us and enjoy seafood right in our kitchen!  SeaPak sent us samples of their Salmon Burgers and Shrimp Spring Rolls to try, and they were truly delicious.  Shrimptacular, even!  Frozen fish often ends up being rubbery and chewy, but the salmon burgers were nice and flaky, and extremely tasty.  Ditto on the Spring Rolls!  They were crunchy and savory, and the dipping sauce gave them a sweet-spicy kick.  The glow of the tv doesn't quite replace the glow of the sunset, but as long as our bellies are full of seafood and we're together, Family Night In can be just as fun as Family Night Out :)
