I was recently given some coupons to try out Aunt Jemima's new frozen Confetti Pancakes, but they must be selling like, um, hotcakes because I couldn't find any. So we tried Aunt Jemima's frozen Homestyle Pancakes instead, and I'm glad I did, because I've just discovered something new that I'd keep in my freezer any day! I usually make pancakes from scratch or from a mix, and this was the first time we have ever tried frozen pancakes. Frozen waffles, yes; frozen pancakes, no. I always thought they'd be either gummy or crumbly, but these Aunt Jemima's frozen pancakes were neither. I microwaved them, and they actually turned out quite fluffy!
As for the taste, there were no complaints on any score:
My kids would eat pancakes day and night, and these frozen pancakes would be great to have in the freezer when I'm just too lazy to do any flipping.
A serving size is 3 pancakes, which is a good amount for a snack, and paired with fruit and yogurt and a glass of milk, would be make a hearty, yummy meal. I checked the nutrition information for these Homestyle Frozen Pancakes versus various kinds of pancakes (frozen, mixes, made from scratch) and it seems comparable. I wonder how the Confetti pancakes will, um, stack up. Fortunately I still have one more coupon, so I'm going to keep hunting for these elusive Confetti Pancakes and let you all know when I find them. For now, I'll have to be content with this information about the new product:
