Camp Galileo Closing Ceremonies: ending a week of fun

After a week of fun and games at Camp Galileo, you might expect Fridays at camp to be a bit depressing.  No more friends, no more wacky camp staff, no more cool stuff to do (unless you're attending another week of camp, of course)... any kid would feel sad!  But the CG staff does a great job of ending the week on a high note, with their Camp Closing Ceremonies.  At 2:30PM on Friday, campers and parents gather together and the camp staff gives everyone an overview of what all the age groups (Nebulas, Stars and Supernovas) have been doing all week.

The camp staff also put on a funny skit about a troll with a stomachache and a prince who operates on him and removes some pretty amazing stuff from his tummy.  Everyone was in stitches (pun intended)!

Next, the staff leads the campers in doing the Sandwich Dance. It's so great to see how game the counselors are -- no one is too "cool" to dress up in crazy clothes or poke some fun at themselves to entertain the kids and keep everyone in good spirits.

The ceremony finishes with the youngest campers, the Nebulas (pre-K and K) leading everyone in singing the Repeat After Me dance.  So cute!

Each child gets to take home a camp shirt (graduating campers, i.e. campers who would no longer be age-eligible for Camp Galileo next year, also get a camp sweatshirt), a certificate, and a keychain with a special camp pin.

The Closing Ceremonies are the perfect way to end a fun week of Camp and get the kids excited for their next Camp Galileo experience!  Unfortunately this is the last Camp Galileo for my kids this summer, because we'll be on vacation next month -- but there's always next year, and they're already talking about all the fun things they want to do at Camp Galileo in 2013!

Disclosure: This is the fifth in a series of posts about Camp Galileo and Galileo Summer Quest, for which I am being compensated with a free week of camp for each of my children.. The views and opinions expressed here are my own.
