Giveaway: Il Divo's latest album, A Musical Affair is now in stores

Simon Cowell may be an arrogant donkey's behind, but I like the guy. Whatever you think about his personality, you have to admit the guy knows his stuff. He knows talent when he sees it, and he knows how to turn raw talent (i.e. winners of pop contests like American Idol and The X Factor) into some of the biggest names in entertainment.

Simon is best known for discovering and signing pop stars like Leona Lewis and One Direction, but one of his biggest talents isn't even a pop act.  Well, sort of.  I'm talking about Il Divo, the classical crossover quartet that has sold over 26 million albums worldwide.  I love how Il Divo has done so much to make classical music and the operatic style "cool".  Who can resist their amazing voices, romantic song selections, and sophisticated good looks?  Not this mom!  That's why I was delighted to receive screeners for Il Divo's latest album, "A Musical Affair".

The album, which released just yesterday (November 5), is a compilation of Broadway songs sung in a mix of English, Spanish, Italian, Latin and French.   I love the fact that they chose songs from such a wide variety of Broadway musicals: not just currently popular ones like Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables, but some oldies-but-goodies like South Pacific, The King and I, and Cats.  Several of the songs are performed with top names like Barbra Streisand, Kristin Chenoweth and Nicole Scherzinger -- again, a wide variety of styles!  Who would have thought that Nicole Sherzinger would sing along with Il Divo! To me, that variety is what makes Il Divo so appealing to so many people.  When you have a multinational group (the members are Spanish, Swiss, American and French) singing about something as universal as love, of course the whole world is going to love you!
