It's Halloween Time again at the Disneyland Resort, and we just got back from a fun-filled weekend enjoying everything that the Disneyland Resort has to offer during my favorite time of the year. Every year the resort goes all out to celebrate fall, with beautiful pumpkin-inspired decorations (Main Street looks beautiful at this time of the year with all the pumpkins on display) and attractions (we all love Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy, Haunted Mansion Holiday, Tower of Terror!) that have been transformed to match the spirit of the season.
Seasons are made memorable not just by sights and sounds, but also by smells and tastes -- and one of the delights not to be missed at this time of the year are the Halloween Time foods being offered throughout the resort. I love hunting down limited-time offerings, so during our Halloween Time visit, I set out to find and try as many treats as I could! Here are some of the most eerie-sistible Halloween Time treats available:
Halloween-themed caramel apples are extremely popular (and delicious). They come in Mickey pumpkin, Minnie witch, Mickey ghost, ghoul and Jack Skellington designs. In the far left of the photo, you can also see Halloween-themed cupcakes with orange frosting, as well as a marshmallow crispy treat shaped to look like Monster's University's Mike Wazowski!
The frosted sugar cookies are always delicious, and during Halloween Time they come decorated like jack-o-lanterns with Mickey ears. They also have cookies shaped and frosted to look like candy corn and ghosts.
You can buy cotton candy any time of year, but candy corn-flavored cotton candy is only available during Halloween Time.
I bought a pack of these adorable Mini Mickey Crispy Treats. They are tiny rice krispy treats shaped like a mickey head, half dipped in white chocolate and dusted with edible gold powder. They come in bags of 12 (which I really love because it was easy to divide and share!), and they come with a strand of beads in your choice of purple, gold or green. Also in the photo is another seasonal treat, the Kooky Spooky gingerbread cookie, which is shaped like your standard gingerbread man, but with orange or green icing piped to look like a skeleton.
These Pumpkin Squash Fritters are To Die For (ghastly, I mean ghostly pun intended!). They would be perfect for our family of five, but since Alfie wasn't there, we had to fight over the last one. They come with an apple dipping sauce that is really divine (or should I say Die-vine?).
Even the popcorn changes into costume for Halloween Time! You can buy two kinds of souvenir buckets -- a regular one printed with a Halloween design, or a special souvenir bucket shaped to look like Mickey dressed in costume with his trick-or-treat bag. By the way, our family has unanimously declared Disneyland popcorn to be the best in the world.
If you like your popcorn sweet, not salty, look for flavored popcorn (caramel corn or kettle corn or cheese flavored) in commemorative Halloween tins.
This doesn't even begin to cover every single seasonal treat you can find. I can name dozens more: pumpkin pie, pumpkin lattes, apple burritos, the list goes on. There are so many limited-time tastes, it will take multiple visits to try every one of them! The Disney Parks Blog has a mouth-watering post about some of the seasonal savory delights you can find at the Disneyland Resort. They all sound eerie-sistible, and I've made a list of my Top Five Must-Try seasonal dishes for the next time we go to the Disneyland Resort during HalloweenTime:
- Monster Mac ‘n Cheese Pizza at Red Rockett’s Pizza Port (Tomorrowland, Disneyland Park)
- Tamales and pumpkin flan with orange cake at the Zocalo Ranch Cafe (Frontierland, Disneyland Park)
- Halloween Wicked Grilled Chicken at Village Haus Restaurant (Fantasyland, Disneyland Park)
- Pepper Jack Skellington Burger at Carnation Cafe (Main Street USA, Disneyland Park)
- Anti-Vampire Chicken Flatbread at Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta (Disney's California Adventure)
