Whole Foods launches new Blueberry Peach Upside-Down Cake

I received a sample to review

Need a last minute dessert for your 4th of July or summer picnic?  With Whole Foods' new Blueberry Peach Upside-Down Cake, you get to celebrate the red, white and blue(berry) without ever having to turn on your oven! Whole Foods sent us a sample of their latest baked delight, and it certainly turned our world upside down :)

This cake is about 6" in diameter and just over 2" in height.  It slices into 4 very generous servings, 6 "just right" servings or 8 "sensible" servings.  Like any upside down cake, it sits somewhat lopsided on its cake plate liner because the bottom is actually the top, and it rose unevenly.  I'm happy that Whole Foods bakery didn't slice off the bottom to make it sit perfectly straight, because like a muffin top, that's the best part!

You can't tell from the price (just $6.99), but it's made with seriously high-quality ingredients:  whole wheat and almond flour, olive oil, greek yogurt and fresh, seasonal fruit.  The yogurt and oil keep the cake super moist, and you couldn't ask for a better combination of fruit -- blueberries and peaches, which are at their sweetest and freshest right now!

I highly recommend serving this cake with fresh blueberries and peaches (and if you're feeling naughty, some whipped cream or vanilla ice cream).  Of course, it's perfectly yummy on its own -- the fruit topping and glaze give it enough sweetness to let your tummy know that dessert is served.  What a sweet way to celebrate summer!
