"Tiger Suit" by KT Tunstall -- Review and Giveaway

I'm not what you would call Clued In when it comes to music. For the most part, I'm stuck in the 80's, content with Madonna and , with a few classical, rock and Broadway pieces thrown in for good measure. But once in a while I hear a song -- on tv, on the radio, in a YouTube video -- that will completely knock my socks off and send me searching frantically for the song. KT Tunstall's Black Horse and the Cherry Tree is one of them. When Katharine McPhee sung it on American Idol in 2006, I fell in love with it. And when I heard her Suddenly I See on So You Think You Can Dance, I fell in love a second time. I bought her Eye to the Telescope album not long after, and I must have listened to those songs hundreds on times on various runs and walks since then. KT Tunstall has become one of my favorite artists of the 21st century.

So I was thrilled when the One2One Network invited me to review KT Tunstall's 3rd album, "Tiger Suit". It's been in stores for less than a week, and I've only had 3 or 4 days to review it, but so far I'm loving what I'm hearing. Tiger Suit is a little bit different from Eye to the Telescope; the music is much heavier on the electric/synthesized elements, making it sound a lot more pop than folk/rock. I can barely recognize her photo on the album cover, and I'm missing the strong rhythms of her guitar -- but her wonderful, gravely voice is still there, and that's what makes it work for me. I'm not surprised to find that my favorite tracks on this album -- Uummannaq Song, Push That Knot Away, and Fade Like a Shadow -- are fast paced, with clear guitar melodies and strong foot-tapping beats. Those three are destined to be a staple on my running playlist, and this album is destined to be a keeper!

Here's some information about “How To Make A Tiger Suit”
"How To Make A Tiger Suit" is a record of a record. An honest and revealing film about KT Tunstall's journey, both geographic and personal - to create her third album.

From Scotland to London; California to Berlin - director Rupert Style follows KT as she explores this exciting new terrain. Musical borders are crossed too - in KT's own words "Leftfield via Eddie Cochran".
