Enter Hallmark Cards' and CaringBridge's "Caring Messages" card design contest

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for CaringBridge. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

After dinner last night, 3Po came down with a case of stomach flu, and spent half the night throwing up and the other half wishing he could throw up.  I stayed up with him, cleaning him up, comforting him.  It's hard to see your child suffering while you're helpless to stop the pain.  I give thanks every day that a bout of food poisoning is the worst we have to worry about.  I don't know what I'd do if any of my kids had a more serious medical condition... which is why I'm in awe of the CaringBridge, the nonprofit caring social network that helps families stay connected and supported during trying times.

I first heard of CaringBridge when a friend's daughter was diagnosed with leukemia.  I saw first hand how CaringBridge helped them update their family and friends on their daughter's condition without having to respond to dozens of emails.  They were able to receive messages of support and love from everyone so they knew they were never alone.

November is National Family Caregiver Month, and to celebrate parents and other caregivers who tirelessly work to comfort and care for a loved one in need, Hallmark Cards and CaringBridge have partnered on a Caring Messages card contest.  Participants can design a card for a caregiver for the chance to win a cash prize and the chance to see their card sold at Hallmark.com.  Here's more information about the contest:

About the Contest
To celebrate and support caregivers, the strong personal heroes who tirelessly help families get through one day at a time when experiencing a hardship, CaringBridge, the nonprofit caring social network, and Hallmark Cards are kicking off the “Caring Messages” card contest during National Family Caregiver Month.

From October 28th through November 17th, the “Caring Messages” card contest encourages participants to draw on personal experiences as a caregiver or as someone receiving care and create a message of love and support appropriate for a caregiver. Participants can submit one card idea in each of the following categories to www.hallmarkcontests.com:

Support and Encouragement: What can you say to lift someone up or help them get through the day? Let them know you’re thinking of them, send happy thoughts and cheer them on.

Compliments and Appreciation: Let someone know how much you admire them: What they do and how they do it.

Words from the Wise: If you’ve experienced something yourself you understand what it’s really like. Write a supportive message for others based on what you’ve learned or what you needed to hear.

This partnership aims to provide patients, caregivers and supporters with love, hope and compassion. Winners announced in February will receive a cash prize, and their entry will be sold at Hallmark.com with in-store sale to be determined
