Ignite the Night with P.F. Chang's Home Menu
Alfie and I are not one of those couples who are joined at the hip. We recognize that we need our own space, and we are perfectly happy to let the other have it. Whether it's an evening spent doing our own thing, a girls' night out/boys' poker night, we return to each other's arms none the worse for the wear.
This week, Alfie is out on a week-long solo vacation. He gets back home late on Wednesday night -- unless he decides he's too tired to ride back and wants to crash at a hotel, in which case he'll arrive on Thursday afternoon. I leave early Thursday morning for a business trip, getting back on Friday night, so we'll be like two ships passing in the night. We miss each other, of course, but the separation is going to make the "reunion" so much sweeter!
I can see it now... I arrive home, tired and hungry, late on Friday night. As I fumble with the keys, the door opens. Alfie is standing there in club attire, doused in my favorite Drakkar Noir scent. The lights are dim, and scented candles are flickering. The soft strains of Lauren Shera are playing, and I can smell some Ginger Chicken & Broccoli simmering on the stove. Hooo baby.... get ready to Ignite the Night!
Sounds too good to be true? I almost forgot to mention: that Ginger Chicken & Broccoli would be one of P.F. Chang's Home Menu frozen entrees. Alfie doesn't cook Chinese, and with the kids in bed, there's no way he could make a run down to P.F. Chang's. Not to worry: I first tried P.F. Chang's Home Menu last fall, and their frozen entrees are absolutely delicious. They're the perfect way to enjoy a restaurant-style meal at home!
Here's more information about P.F. Chang's Home Menu:
Inspired by P.F. Chang's best-selling recipes, the P.F. Chang's® Home Menu™ line includes: Orange Chicken, Shanghai Style Beef, Sweet & Sour Chicken, General Chang's Chicken, Ginger Chicken & Broccoli, Beef with Broccoli, Shrimp in a Garlic Sauce and Shrimp Lo Mein. Chang's flavors, are convenient and easy to prepare, going from skillet to a succulent high-quality meal at home in just minutes. A patented packaging technology keeps food fresh-tasting for a premium dining experience.

Dim the lights or light some unscented candels. Start with an easy appetizer like Garlic shrimp
ReplyDelete* 1 lb shrimp (about 25 peeled)
* 4 large cloves of garlic, finely minced
* 1 tsp paprika
* 1 tsp red pepper flakes
* 2-3 oz of dry sherry
* 1/4 cup virgin olive oil
* 3 tsp chopped fresh parsley
* juice of one lemon
In a sauté pan or heavy frying pan, warm the olive oil over medium heat. Add the red pepper flakes, and garlic and sauté for about one minute or until they begin to brown.
Raise the heat to high and add the shrimp, lemon juice, sherry and paprika. Stir well, then sauté, stirring briskly until the shrimp turn pink and curl – about 3 minutes.
Remove from heat and transfer shrimp with oil and sauce to a warm plate or serve right from the pan. Season to taste with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Sprinkle with parsley.
(I make this when we have another couple over so for just the 2 of you half the recipe)
A bottle of Alsace pinot gris, Shanghai Style Beef, and some rice.
For dessert I would grab a piece of Tiramisu from my super market bakery or whatever cake they sell by the slice-that looks decadent-one slice and one fork for you and your husband to eat together.
For a nice dinner topic I want you to tell each other when you new that you were meant to spend your life together.
Let the dishes wait till morning, put on your favorite song and you two slow dance together--yes right there in the living room--or out on the deck under the stars.

ReplyDeleteSimple. Get together a couple of cheap asian hand fans, a cute rug, tea candles, two place mats, nice dishware, SMALL table (or plate), asian-sounding music, and of course, your favorite P.F Changs meal.
ReplyDelete*Go into the dining room (& move the table out), place rug in center of room.
*In the center of rug, have a small table (or plate) and place candles on it.
*Next to candles, place fans (not too close to fire!)
*Set one place mat on each side of rug, opposite of each other.
*Set dishware accordingly.
*Turn on music (can use CD, radio, or even computer).
Serve food on dishware and enjoy your date!
