Fiber One Original Cereal Review and Giveaway
This has got to be the worst time ever for anyone watching their weight or trying to eat healthy. By now everyone knows that the average Thanksgiving meal can set an adult back 3,500 calories. That information alone should be enough for people to set their willpower on high and stop themselves from stuffing themselves like Thanksgiving turkeys, but the truth is, when you're faced with the rich smells of Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and pie, it's all too easy to give in and tell yourself it's just once a year. And then that "once a year" escalates from pigging out at one meal into pigging out for the whole season.
I read an article today containing 6 tips to curb your Thanksgiving calorie intake, which I'm going to keep in mind this coming Thursday. The first tip really stands out for me, because it has to do with curbing your appetite. The important thing is not to starve yourself before the Big Turkey Dinner -- instead, eat a healthy (not huge) breakfast and lunch, because you are more likely to overindulge if you're famished. I think it's a great tip that applies to any dinner, any day.

Fiber One's slogan is "Cardboard No. Delicious Yes.", and I'm happy to report that the cereal does NOT taste like cardboard. In fact, I was quite surprised to detect a hint of sweetness! Given that it has zero grams of sugar, I have no idea where that comes from. Don't get me wrong, this is not sugar-coated cornflakes -- I wouldn't recommend eating it all by itself. My suggestion would be to have it with fruit, or sprinkle it over your favorite cereal to boost your fiber intake and lower your sugar intake. My favorite way of eating has been to pour a bit of Greek yogurt and honey -- the cereal gives my breakfast a pleasant nutty crunch. I wish they didn't make the cereal look like little hamster food pellets, but I'm willing to overlook it to get that whopping 40 grams of fiber. It's a great way to keep you satisfied throughout your morning.

I've tried many diets, but it is really about portion control and making small changes at a time. If I try portion control and exercise at the same time right off the bat, I get frustrated and quit.
