Safeway / Fiber One Review and Giveaway
When I think of getting fiber in my diet, foods like brown rice, wheat bread, broccoli and beans come to mind. Oh, and cardboard. Thanks to MyBlogSpark, I recently received a coupon good for a free 4-pack of Fiber One Yogurt to try, as well as a $50 Safeway giftcard so I could stock up on Fiber One yogurt and other everyday values at Safeway (my favorite grocery store, so yay!) -- and let me tell you, this high-fiber yogurt does not taste like cardboard. Here's what I thought of it:
The Basics
Here's a description of the product from Yoplait, the maker of Fiber One Yogurt:
Fiber One is the only leading nonfat yogurt with 50 calories and 5 grams of fiber (20 percent of the Recommended Daily Value). It is also a good source of calcium and vitamins A and D, making this a guilt-free and all-around great choice for dieters and those watching their weights. Each cup includes the creamy, delicious taste you expect from Yoplait, and you don’t have to feel guilty about enjoying it. Fiber One is available in a variety of flavors including, Strawberry, Peach, Vanilla and Key Lime Pie
The Bongga
This yogurt is totally delicious! I love the Vanilla and Key Lime Pie flavors, which have just the right hint of sweetness. I'm impressed by how much fiber is in one of those little yogurt cups -- I could totally scarf 5 of these babies down and be done with my fiber for the day! And with just 50 calories and 0 grams of fat, it's a yummy snack or dessert that I can indulge in without feeling guilty.
The Blah
While I like the taste, I can't say the same for the texture. I'll admit this is a personal preference, since my tastes run towards the thick, creamy Greek yogurts or the thin, runny European yogurts, not the pudding-like consistency of most US yogurts that's somewhere between the other two.
The Bottom Line
Fiber One yogurt is a delicious way to get some fiber into your diet without packing in the calories and fat!
Save at Safeway!
From January 13th through February 9th, the Safeway family of stores has a special deal where you can purchase two 4-packs of Fiber One yogurt for only $4! I eat Fibre 1 cereal to get a big chunk of my daily fibre! At 44 and 52 percent of my daily intake in one serving (depends on which type you have) it really helps me to meet my daily requirements!

I make sure I have 3 or more fruits and veggies in my menu each day. I also make sure I only use really good breads that are nutritionally dense. The fact is they taste so much better than those cheap brands.

I get fiber in my diet by skipping juice and eating the fruits and vegetables whole. If I only drink juice, I miss out on the fiber.
