Win Free Movie Tickets!

I remember the first movie I ever watched at a movie theater. It was The Sound of Music, and I must have been five or six years old. We didn't watch many movies when I was a kid, but once I entered college I must have gone to a movie theater at least once a week. I've got lots and lots of good memories at the movies; not only of the movies themselves, but of people and events that happened there, like sneaking into a second movie after the first movie ended or getting my first French kiss.

Now that I have kids, nights at the movies are few and far between for Alfie and me, which makes them all the more precious. The kids are just starting to enjoy full length movies (complete with the scary parts), so I was really happy when General Mills generously provided me with 4 free tickets and a box of free General Mills cereal -- perfect for our making some new Movie Moments! Stay tuned for my report on which movie we chose to watch and how our movie night went. Thanks General Mills!

  1. Favorite movie moment: Watching E.T. at the drive-in (one of the last drive-in theaters around at that time) in the back of the family station wagon, wearing footed pajamas.

  3. We were at the drive-in, I was in between my brothers in the back seat. We were watching a disney movie (can't remember which one) and suddenly some bats flew out of a box. I jumped so high and in the process spilled my soda all over my brothers. I always figured it was pay back for all the mean boy things they did to me.....LOL!

  6. Definitely going to the Drive-Ins as a kid. Getting there prior to the sun going down and playing on the play structure. Then trying to position the speaker inside of the window. Good Times!

  9. My favorite movie moment was when I got $100 from my brother for graduating and I treated everyone to see Star Wars. That was fun. It might have been ghostbusters. I'm not sure. I did a group movie thing both times. Both fun!

  22. My favorite is probably just before my son was born. I was 8.5mo pregnant and we went to the opening Premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean 2, and my son was kicking and rolling all through the movie, then was calm that night(which he usually was kicking and rolling and keeping me up!)

  30. One of my favorite movie moments was seeing Smokey and The Bandit at a drive-in (yes, I'm THAT old, hehehe). I was dating someone with a Mustang convertible. We had fun at the movie, and then fun screeching out of the theatre - who wouldn't drive fast after seeing that movie ;)

  36. A great movie experience for me was Seeing Disney's Beauty and the Beast. My mother took us to a theater that looked like a Broadway show theater complete with the box seats. For some reason that night the theater was empty (probably a weeknight). Watching the red drapes pull apart and the beginning of the movie complete with beautiful colors, singing, and the storyline made me fall in love with it. I will never forget that night.

  37. One of my most memorable movie moments was when my husband decided that my 3 year old was old enough to sit through a movie that her older sister wanted to see. Thankfully we were the only ones in the theatre because she didn't sit the whole movie! My oldest daughter was SO happy to go to the theatre to see Toy Story, though!

  41. I'd have to say that my most memorable moment was when I took my now 12 year old to her first movie. I took her to 102 Dalmatians. We got there a bit late, so when we went to go into the theater you could hear dogs barking. My daughter took off running to get out of the movie. I was carrying stuff & she had popcorn. She threw it, popcorn went everywhere.

Luckily there was a lady that was near the doors, so she stopped my dd from getting out. Once I explained to her that it was a movie & dogs weren't there, she went in & enjoyed the movie. I never even thought to explain what a movie at the theater was. I think she was 4 at the time.

  47. My favorite movie moment was when we took our 3 little ones to see Prancer. It was a snow day and the schools were closed. Since the theater wasn't far from our house we braved the snow, and we were the only ones in the theater! It was so fun to watch our own "private" screening of a great Christmas movie!
